COACHING
At the moment the Club has one qualified level two coach David Triggs. However, we have two other members going through the process of qualifying to become coaches.
Our main coaching event takes place as part of the Monday evening Grass Track series running each Monday from May until August for more details see the Grass Track page or speak to one of the Club officials.
Off-road coaching: David Triggs, the Club coach has organised coaching sessions on Saturdays from September through to early December in conjunction with the Cyclo-Cross season. More details will be available later in the year.
Not strictly coaching but the Club has organised road rides on Saturday mornings (meet at 10am at Shrub End Community and Sports Centre, Boadicea Way), Tuesday (meet at 7pm) and Thursday (meet at 6pm) at the Colchester United Football Stadium. This is aimed at riders 15 years and above although competent younger riders are welcome to join in if accompanied by a parent.
British Cycling organises a number of holiday programmes and details of these are normally on the British Cycling Web Site. David Triggs will normally circulate emails so if you want to receive information let David have your email address.

More details are available on the British Cycling Web Site.
CYCLING TIME TRIALS
If you are 12 and under you are not allowed to time trial on open public roads but once you are 12 you may with your parent’s consent take part in time trials. Many will start off by doing one of the Clubs Wednesday evening 10 mile time trials. For Youth riders (under 16’s) a fantastic event to enter is the GHS 10 mile time trial. This is a national time trial series. This year the local round will be at Maldon on 19th June and then the best riders from each category in each area go through to compete in the national final. Further info on the RTTC web site:- http://www.rttc.org.uk
CYCLO CROSS EVENTS
The 2010/2011 calendar of events will be published on the Eastern Cross Web Site http://www.easterncross.org.uk/league.htm and the BC Web Site http://new.britishcycling.org.uk some time around the end of June/July. Events will be held at many of familiar venues including:-
WATT BIKE RACING
Again this will start later in the autumn. An event similar to last winter will be organised for Youth riders. Watt Bikes are exercise bikes linked to a computer screen and riders normally take part in a series of events including a 750 metre sprint, a team race with each rider doing 250metres and a longer distance event like a 1000 or 750 metres depending upon the age of competitors.
CLUB RUNS
The Club organises a number of Club runs on Sundays. These are social rides starting on a regular basis in October and running through the winter and early spring. Details can be found on the Club Web Site. These are ideal for older youth riders who are confident and can ride at a steady pace for 30 to 40 miles including a stop. The Club would require a parent to attend or have a parental consent form.
