Sunday Club Rides - 3 to 5 hours duration

> Sunday Club Rides Calendar (Excel File)

The Sunday Club rides run throughout the winter season from mid October to the end of March and take you out into the wider Essex and Suffolk countryside. They are first and foremost social rides (as opposed to training rides), so the pace is not too fast but equally not too slow – usually an average pace of between 14 – 17mph. They always involve a café stop half way in order to take on much needed Tea/Coffee and Cake and have a chat.  Distance can vary, the shortest being 35 miles and the longest - 55 miles and the time ranges from 3 to 5 hours. Routes can vary depending on the weather conditions on the day and how many riders turn up. First ride 17th October.

Meeting place is outside the Community Sports Centre in Bodecia Way, for a prompt 09.30 departure, so make sure you are there before this time. Please ensure your bike is fitted with mudguards for winter riding and that you carry all the necessary tools, i.e. tyre levers, spare tubes, pump and lights and that you have appropriate winter gear to keep dry and warm.  Oh and don’t forget cash for the café.

Dedham
This is a ride favourite, taking in the sights of Bures, up Peacock Hill to Assington and onto Stoke-by-Nayland toward Constable Country and a great cafe stop at Dedham. Route can be flexed accordingly but some nice straight roads in some beautiful countryside 35 -40 miles

Heybridge Basin
Heading West toward in an anti-clockwise direction toward Maldon, this route keeps to the quiet Essex lanes (yes there are a few) stopping off for a cuppa by the canal - great in the spring. 50 miles

Lamarsh
If you like hills, you'll like this ride, a number of hills in both Essex and skirting the Suffolk border, heart and lung stuff but don't worry its not quite the foothills of the Alps. Chapel, Lamarsh, Bulmer, Gessington are some of the places we pass through before heading for home. Ride grade: Medium

Monks – Eleigh
A nice combination of hills and flats which will test your bike handling skills as we head North East through charming towns of Boxford, Kersey, Lindsay, passing a few Lama farms on the way. A good 50 miles with some 'out of the saddle' climbing.

Shotley Peninsula
A medium ride with some cracking views and a few hills chucked in for good measure but nothing too daunting! Around 47 miles
