Interclub map reading competition
Hi Everyone,
Just when you thought the season was over following the Memorial 25, I'd like to remind you that the interclub map reading competition will be held on Sunday 28th October.
The Century RC are promoting this year and the HQ will be The White Horse Pub, High Cross, Nr. Hertford ( on the old A10 grid ref. 364-186 landranger 166 ) If you would like to take part and help the Rovers repeat last year's win, ( just to prove we can win away as well! ) please let me know by 15th October.
If you haven't tried one before and are wondering how it works, the format is quite simple. You are given a photo copy map at your start time, ( 1 min. intervals as a TT ) with up to 5 points marked, work out your route and get to all points and back to the finish as fast as possible! Simple!
You must answer a question at each point to prove you have visited the right place.
It is a team competition, fastest three to score from each club. A vets prize is awarded ( over 50 ) and actual winner.
This is a great event to finish of the season, very sociable, as we all have a post mortem over lunch in the pub afterwards about who went wrong where!
Look forward to hearing from you soon,
Julie.

Coaching Opportunites 2007
I hope by now most of you will either now me, have had emails from me or about me as a BC trained Coach. What I am trying to do as a Coach is to carry on much of the excellent work that has been carried out by Rovers Members over many years. However, I am only one person and you will see below an excellent opportunity for training locally – Ipswich in Feb 07 or if this is not convenient then somewhere else in the Region later in 07.

The Course in Ipswich has already shown significant interest and of course places are limited.

If you are interested in Coaching or want to find out more then please email me. There is also plenty of info on the BC web site.

Please do not be put off the cost as there are ways of supporting you. If you no anyone interested not on this email list please pass this on whether they are Colchester Rovers or not.

Regards,
David Triggs - Colchester Rovers Club Coach

Grass Track Racing - Bike Strip down and re-assemble
We are looking for some helpers to spare a couple of hours next Saturday 9th December in stripping down the track bikes to go to be re-sprayed and smartened up in time for the next grass track session.

If you can help please email me to let me know or just pop along to Shrub End next Saturday morning.

The plan is to meet at Shrub End at 9.30 Saturday 9th,

Strip the bikes down,

Ken Baker has agreed to take these for re-spray and then when these have been sprayed we will be looking for about 9 volunteers to take one bike each to re-assemble before next Spring.

The Club has agreed to renew tyres and tubes where necessary and Colin White has agreed to get some new chain.

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
David Triggs
