This week the weather was glorious dry and very warm for some furious, fast and fun grass track racing. Group one was the 7’s and under with the first 150metre race won by regular Harrison Brock ahead of last week’s star Ellie Mae Pledger followed by Edward Bateman, Daniel Hall, Liam Paton, Theo Warren, Emily Jackson and Odie Hankin Appleby. The second time this group raced ended with a win for Ellie Mae ahead of Emily with Odie in third place. The third and final race for this group was another very close battle with Edward just beating Emily ahead of Ellie Mae. Group two was a freewheel group of under 12’s with riders competing in a one lap scratch race. The first race was a show of girl power with Bethan York coming through ahead of Caitlin Douglas with Daniel Gilbert in third followed by George Hindle, Silas Warren, Beth Coiley and Calista Arthey. The next time this group raced over a 300metre handicap Liam Paton came through ahead of Harrison with Sam Taylor in third and George in fourth place. Group three was the first of the fixed wheel groups with race one being a right battle with Rory Smith just coming through on the line from Oliver Kensdale and Nicholas Woodhead in third. They were followed by George Campling, Nathan Carter, Ellie Duley and Nathan King. These riders were given handicaps and in the second race George Hindle came through ahead of Nathan King Rory Smith and Beth Coiley. In race three Rory had another win this time just beating fast finishing Ellie from Nicholas and Oliver. Group four consisted of the oldest riders with the first scratch race being won by Elliot Jarvis from Ellis Smith, Adam Buckingham, Joe Jackson, Sam Jackson, Ben Kensdale and Sam Taylor. The next time this group raced it was over a two lap handicap with Elliot just coming through ahead of Ellis, Joe Jackson and brother Sam. In between the riders competed in two Kieran heats where the riders followed the pace cycle and sprint for the line when the pace cyclist pulls over to the inside. The riders finished with a relay race won by the team led by Rory Smith.
