This week the weather was dry and cloudy but with another excellent attendance there was some very competitive racing.
Group one was the 7’s and under with the first 150metre race won by newcomer Ellie Mae Pledger, with Cameron Douglas second, followed by Harrison Brock, Liam Paton, Daniel Hall, Emily Jackson, Odie Hankin Appleby and Oliver Partner. The second race for this group ended with a close win by Harrison from Oliver, Liam and Cameron. The final race for this group finished with a win for Harrison ahead of Liam and Daniel.
Group two was a freewheel group of under 12’s with riders competing in a one lap scratch race. The clear winner of race one was Jordon West ahead of Hannah West, Caitlin Douglas, George Hindle, Bethan York, Oliver Partner, Ellie Duley, Molly Bowen, Thomas Meyer and Nathan King. This group then took part in a 300metre handicap race with Hannah West winning just ahead of George, Caitlin and Bethan. With more handicaps applied the third race for this group finished with a win for George just ahead of Caitlin, Oliver Nudd and Molly.
Group three consisted of the first under 12’s fixed wheel riders with their first race being a very close 300 metre scratch race won by Adam Buckingham, ahead of Daniel Gilbert, Lochie Hankin Appleby, Joe Jackson, Nathan King and Leon Sherlock Booth. When this group raced over a handicapped one lap event Adam won again this time from Lochie and Fraser Logan. The final handicap race was won again by Adam ahead of Fraser with Lochie in third. Group four consisted of a second fixed wheel group for under 12’s with the first one lap scratch race being won by Oscar Woodhead ahead of Rory Smith, Ben Kensdale, Callum Vincent, Sam Taylor, George Campling and Myles Doran. When this group raced over a 300 metre handicap event this was won by Sam Taylor ahead of Oscar, Nathan Carter and Ben. The final race for this group was another one lap handicap and this was won by Rory just ahead of Oscar and Sam in third place.
Group five consisted of the oldest group and the first one lap scratch race was won by Camilla West by a wheel from James Jackson with Elliot Jarvis in third followed by Ellis Smith, Jonathan West and Calista Arthey. When this group raced over a two lap event it was James Jarvis who came through just ahead of Camilla, Elliot and Jonathan. The older riders then competed in a three lap team pursuit won by Ellis and Jonathan.
Everyone then took part in a fun relay race. Don’t forget grass track continues every Monday at 6.15pm until August 2009 - all you need is a cycle helmet and £1 entry. Further information from David Triggs 01206 571614.
