Mistley cyclo Cross Race Report

16/11/2009 09:53:53

This Sunday Colchester Rovers Cycling Club organised the first of their two events at Furze Hill Mistley. The races are part of the Eastern Cyclo-Cross League and the Club had a very good showing in the three events.

Colchester Rovers had a number of riders in each event. First up was the Veteren’s race with unlucky Richard Jackson puncturing on the first lap. Despite getting a good start David Triggs was soon passed by Nick Webber who finished a superb race in 8th place, David finished in 17th just ahead of Mike Barnard. Other Rovers finishing one of the toughest courses were Tony Sheppard 32nd, Peter Hall 35th and Neil Pears 39th.

In the Youths event James Jobber finished a fine 12th place despite feeling off colour. Daniel Barnard had ridden to a fine 4th place back in January but having been unwell all week found he could not finish the race.

In the under 12’s there were many Colchester Rovers riders in action. James Jackson battled with Tristan Price for most of the race having won the duel at Hilly Fields this time the positions were reversed with Price coming out on top and Jackson second. Other Colchester riders included James Warren in 10th, Ellie Duley in 15th, Daniel Hall 16th, Lochie Hankin Appleby 19th, Fergus Crouch 20th and  Oliver Partner 21st. Unluckiest rider was Elliot Jarvis who was riding strongly until problems with his gears forced him to retire.
